With the introduction of new fabrics, as well as manufacturing technics, men's underwear has become something that gives a man choices. In the contemporary history of underwear choices, men were able to purchase Fruit of the Looms, Sears, JC Penny, or Mervyns cotton briefs.

Along came Calvin Klien, and they made cotton briefs a little more comfortable. But, these briefs still lacked "something". Men did not know what made the briefs lacking. Along came boxers, and men thought "at least they aren't cotton briefs!" Unfortunately, boxers, while more freeing in the private area, brought forth a new problem that did not happen with the briefs; namely sweat. You see, the briefs soaked up the sweat so that it did not chafe the inner thighs. Boxer's, while comfortable and freeing, did not soak up the sweat; thereby letting the sweat drip down the thighs and sometimes caused chaffing.

Which brings us to the modern era of boutique underwear upstarts like Tommy John, Sheath, RunaMante, Saxx and other premium brands. They realized that men wanted comfort in their underwear. Now, men have alternatives to the $20, 3 pack of Fruit of the Looms or Jockey cotton briefs. No longer do men have to settle for the only alternative to those cotton briefs; boxers. Men can now purchase premium underwear and get that premium feel.

Premium underwear comes in fabrics of bamboo, modal, nylon, and even specialty cotton. The nylon, while cheap, is very versatile. Now it is not only comfortable, but stylish.
