Cotton Underwear: Plus and Minus

We all have worn cotton underwear.  Cotton is the most popular fabric used to make underwear; for good reason.  Cotton is a durable fabric and is a cool material which makes it perfect for the summer.  Plus, cotton underwear is inexpensive and easy to find in stores.  There are many different types of cotton underwear to choose from, both in store and online. Cotton underwear is by far one of the best options if you want to be comfortable without spending an arm and a leg!

Absorbs sweat and holds on to moisture

But, there are some they downsides that come along with this popular fabric choice.  Cotton underwear absorbs sweat as well as it absorbs moisture.  It is not the best material if you want moisture to evaporate, and that is especially true of thus durable material.  The fabric also tends to hold onto odors, which means if you don't wash your underwear often enough, they can start to smell bad.

Less soft after many washes: Unless you pay

Besides odor issues, cotton underwear tends to get less soft after many washes and wears.  If you want cotton underwear for its softness and comfort, be prepared to spend more money!  Because cotton is such a popular fabric choice many people end up wearing the same underwear for a long time. By the time cotton becomes its softness, it has been worn too much and will develop holes.

Not easy to clean

The most obvious downside of cotton underwear is that they are not as easy to clean as synthetic materials like polyester or elastane.  They cannot be washed often enough, especially if you want them to maintain their shape and comfort.  To top that all off, you have to wash them separately in order to get rid of those built-up odors.
